MALEDICTION
Heir of the Wolf
By L. Dennis and P. Arnold
Alexia McCaffrey comes from a very rich family, a blessing for which
she has paid a heavy price.
Her mother died of substance addiction, and Alexia has never known
her father, not even his name.
The McCaffrey family is troubled. Some say cursed. Luckily for
Alexia and her brother, their
Grandmother Victoria, who controlled the family fortune, raised
them, but now she is dead.
Alexia goes to Jefferson City to attend the funeral. Many family
members attend including her Aunt
Clare, and her other aunt's adopted son Dane. Her gambline brother,
who has succombed to the
family's addiction problem, doesn't arrive until the funeral is
over. Her aunt and brother have
expectations at the reading of the will. Both spew hate when the
entire inheritance, including the
mansion, goes to Alexia. Unfortunately the inheritance isn't the
only wealth. Alexia discovers
family secrets that must reamin hidden, and a curse she must avoid,
but which is the worse curse --
her family or the werewolf haunting her?
The title MALEDICTION certainly describes the troubled McCaffrey
family. The story's first chapter,
'Deadly Legacy,' introduces Gaetan, a werewolf who wanders the woods
near Jefferson City, a
Northern Michigan community. He loved Victoria. Now that he has seen
Alexia, his attention turns to
her.
Alexia is an artist with strong work ethic. She is lonely. Does love
or loneliness cause her to
invite her wastrel brother and girlfriend to move into the mansion
with her? Her other instincts
are right-on as she has a strong aversion to her hateful aunt. This
family drama turns on both
psychological terror and physical horror. Other even more zealous
characters promise tragedy to
come. The situations will keep readers turning pages.
